FAQ

Donna Rosa - The food at this countryside trattoria high above Positano blows away that of any restaurant down in town. They pay attention to every detail, from using the freshest of ingredients and making pastas and desserts by hand to a thoughtful presentation on your plate. It stays full until long after midnight, and one of the waitress/daughters sings when the mood strikes. Via Montepertuso 97–99 in Montepertuso (a village in the hills above Positano). tel. +39-089-811-806, www.donnarosapositano.it. July–Sept open daily for dinner (closed lunch Mon–Tues); Oct–June closed Mon; Closed Nov 8–Dec 4.

Lo Guarracino - A cliff-hugging path from the Spiaggia Grande wraps around to this seaside trattoria/pizzeria in a scenic 5-minute stroll. Perhaps its being so hidden has kept prices low, despite the genuinely tasty food and bougainvillea-shrouded terrace above the waters. Via Positanesi d'America 12. tel. +39-089-875-794, www.loguarracino.net. Closed Tues (open daily July–Aug); Closed Nov–Easter. ![]()
'O Caporale - Tables are set on either side of the wide, sloping ramp down to the beach 30 feet away, so it's great for people watching. Service could be a bit more spry, but prices are definitely lower than at the tonier places right on the waterfront—and you still catch the breeze and surf sounds here. Via Regina Giovanna 12. tel. +39-089-811-188, www.ocapuralepositano.it. Open
daily; Closed mid-Oct–Mar.

Buca di Bacco - Buca offers the best value among the see-and-be seen splurge restaurants overlooking the beach at the center of town. Even if it's only to take a post-beach drink, definitely stop by to hobnob with the glitterati and occasional celebrity of Positano's summer set. Via Rampa Teglia 4. tel. +39-089-875-699, www.bucadibacco.it. Open daily; Closed Nov–Easter. ![]()
