FAQ

Cumpà Cosimo - Cumpà Cosimo has been a Ravello institution for over 70 years, presided over by culinary matriarch Netta Buttone. Ingredients come from the family farm, and the best way to sample the bounty is the piatto misto della casa, seven sampler-sized portions of Netta's primi, each better than the last. Heavily touristed, yes, but worth it. Book ahead... Via Roma 44–46. tel. +39-089-857-156. Open daily most of the year (Closed Mon Nov–Dec 10 and Jan 8–Feb).
Villa Maria - Save for Cumpà Cosimo, most of Ravello's great restaurants are, unusually, in its hotels. Villa Maria scores twice, with both the best splurge hotel and the finest restaurant in town. Overlooking the hamlets of the Dragone valley to the sea below, the dining terrace is shaded by spreading tree branches and filled with the strains of classical music from hidden speakers. Book ahead for a table by the railing for the best views... Via S. Chiara 2. tel. +39-089-857-255. Open daily; Closed Tues Oct–Easter.
La Colonna - Call ahead for one of the few tables set in the flower-filled courtyard, or sit under the Gothic ceilings of the long main room that hint at the building's origins 800 years ago as stalls for the palazzo above. Ask after their fresh pasta of the day... Via Roma 22. tel. +39-089-857-411. Open daily in summer; Closed Tues in winter (Nov–Easter).
