FAQ
Ristorante O' Parrucchiano (La Favorita) - It's a bit like eating in botanical gardens whose greenhouse-like terraces and wraparound gardens are big enough to accommodate tour groups almost without your noticing them under a thicket of vines, lemons, and orange trees. Family managed since 1868, and boasting celebrities like Sofia Loren, Andy Warhol, and Vittorio de Sica as former patrons, O' Parrucchiano's vast popularity has not led it to raise prices unreasonably, nor to compromise quality... Corso Italia, 71–73. tel. +39-081-878-1321, www.parrucchiano.com. Open daily (closed Wed mid-Nov–Apr).
Da Gigino - Although all of Sorrento's restaurants cater to tourists, this one has a loyal local following as well, and a TV lighting up one corner gives it that neighborhood-joint touch. Most opt to sit outside on the cobbles of the tiny side street, enjoying a pizza from the wood-burning oven... Via degli Archi 13–15 (just down from Corso Italia). tel. +39-081-878-1927, www.dagigino.com. Open daily (Closed Tues Sept–June).
Sant'Antonino - In fair weather the restaurant moves out onto a huge roof terrace—no views, just tables on an elevated shaded garden of orange trees, grape vines, and the occasional darting cat. Otherwise, it's inside with the rusticated rooms, high ceilings, and funky fireplace. Since they offer such an impressive array of Italian and Campanian standbys, they've made things easy by showcasing their specialties on the front of the menu.... Via S. Maria delle Grazie 6 (off Piazza S. Antonino). tel. +39-081-877-1200, www.ristorantesantonino.it. Open daily (Closed Mon Sept–Jun).
Osteria del Gatto Nero - This is one of those perfect little family osterie—six tables under a vaulted ceiling, antipasti and homemade tiramisù chilling on glass shelves, the requisite black kitten curled up on a straw-bottomed chair, and great home cooking at decent prices... Via Correale 19. tel. +39-081-877-3686. Closed Mon.
