Pizzeria Port'Alba in NapoliAfter a thorough and arduous survey of Naples' top pizzerie, I can honestly report that the Port'Alba, notwithstanding its touristy location and ability to accommodate bus groups, serves the tastiest pizza Margherita in Naples.

On a pedestrian side street in the heart of old Naples—two blocks from the archaeological museum or from Santa Chiara—the Port'Alba is said to be Naples' oldest pizzeria (est. 1738). You can dine on the alley under umbrellas or upstairs in the A/C.

If that scrumptious margherita doesn't grab you—and you don't feel like going in for pizza lasagna (with ricotta) or port'alba (covered with shellfish) either—there's a wide menu that goes well beyond pizza to include their specialty linguine al cartoccio as well as fresh fish or a nice veal scallop in marsala wine.

Just one warning: the tourist trade has made this place greedy, and it is a master at padding the bill. The pizza is fabulous, but be especially vigilant about paying only for what you order.
