Michele's Moccia's nine-table joint across from the Mergellina station is often crowded with locals, and the genial owner likes to take charge of your meal—sometimes even serving you what he thinks you should eat rather than what, in a strictly technical sense, you actually ordered.
His basic spaghetti al pomodoro is okay, but much better are the melanzane al parmigiana (eggplant strips laden with tomatoes, mozzarella, and parmigiano), and his fresh fish secondi alla brace (grilled), including pescespada (a swordfish steak).
It's a homey place; for dessert you can order the brownie-like almond and chocolate cake made by Michele's mother.
