There are trains connecting Palermo with just about everywhere else in Sicliy and Italy, including:
- Trains from Cefalù to Palermo: ten daily; 45–65 min.
- Trains from Messina to Palermo: nine to ten daily; 2.5–4 hr.
- Trains from Naples to Palermo: three to four daily; 9–10 hr.
- Trains from Rome to Palermo: seven to eight daily; 11–12 hr.
Almost all trains pull into Palermo's Stazione Centrale (tel. 091-616-7514 or 091-616-806), at the foot of Via Roma on the southeastern edge of the city center.
Do not get off accidentally at the suburban station Palermo-Stazione Notarbartolo. You'll have to wait for another train or grab a taxi to get into the city center.
