Verona is a lovely, lively Italian city—on the third or fourth tier of mass tourism, and hence far less crowded than the more popular spots. My favorite Verona hotels include the luxe Hotel Baglioni Due Torri, the central Hotel Gabbia d'Oro, the moderately-priced Hotel Giulietta e Romeo near the Arena, and the budget-friendly Hotel Torcolo a block off Piazza Brà.
