Here you can have your relaxing time. Then our journey ends whit the drive back to Positano taking more o less one hour.
Setting off at either 9am or 2pm, according to your preference, head off on a discovery tour of Salerno, the Amalfi Coasts buzzing urban hub. Join this tour in Sorrento, driving South to the Amalfi Coast.
The first stop will be Positano. Positano, the most picturesque town of the Amalfi Coast resembles a waterfall cascading down to the sea. Visitors descend narrow pathways, perusing artisan workshops offering ceramics, fabled lemon products, and the distinct local style of dress.
Second stop: Amalfi. The gem of Amalfi is the oldest of Italys maritime republics. Whitewashed homes dotting the hillside are illuminated by the abundant sunshine that bathes the city. The basilicas cupola is a reference to the Sicilian-Arabic influence that once dominated the area. For centuries it has been a popular destination due to its natural beauty and ideal climate.
Last stop: Ravello. Ravello and its noble villas keep alive the grandeur of a bygone era. Perched high on a hillside plateau, Ravello has stunning views of the Amalfi coastline, overlooking Minori, Maiori, and beyond. Immortalized in the films of Roberto Rossellini, the city of Ravello seduces its visitors with its contrast of opulent colours and displays of luxury and the absolute tranquillity that pervades it.
The tour ends back in Sorrento.
The tour will be either in a van or minibus. Groups of 6 to 8 people will share an 8-seat van with an English-speaking driver and no tour guide. Groups of 9 to 19 share a 19-seat minibus and are accompanied by a guide for the entire excursion.
Pickup from Sorrento and transfer by minibus to Positano. During the ride, it will be possible for you to stop and immortalise the unique views of the Amalfi Drive at sunset from a terrace overlooking Positano.
Once in Positano, you will have approximately 2 hours of free time to explore the town on your own where you can visit the church of Santa Maria Assunta, enjoy shopping for some local fashions or to take a stroll on its beautiful beaches. After the free time, head to a local restaurant facing Positano coastline, where you'll have dinner with typical traditional dishes from the area.
After dinner, return to Sorrento.

After admiring the Sorrento Coast, a boat will take you to the Island of Capri, where you can discover some wonderful caves, such as the spectacular White Grotto certainly not to be missed. The color of this cave is really white due to the rock formation and mineral deposits. It gets its name from the white stalactites from the roof at the entrance. They say that in the White Grotto you can see the Virgin Mary or a rock that looks like it.
Later, you can see and cross the natural arch of the famous rocks of Faraglioni. After reaching the Port of Marina Piccola, you will have 2-3 hours of free time to explore Capri, strolling about the characteristic alleys, enjoying the atmosphere in the picturesque Piazzetta, admiring the breathtaking scenery from the famous Gardens of Augustus or doing some shopping. This Protected Area finishes at the extremity of the coast with the Punta Campanella, where the Greeks built a temple in honor of Goddes Athena.Today there are the ruins of the Minerva Tower: in the past there was a small bell, campanella, that gave the alarm in case of pirates raids. The tower is the most important of the several ones that you can see along the Sorrento Coast.
In the Protected Area is possible to see the broad presence of floral species belonging to the Mediterranean sea and the faunal richness make of this site a place of considerable environmental value. The spectacular variety of the nature results from a particular phenomenon called up-welling: the sea currents let the deepest water to go up bringing to the surface a lot of minerals that triggers an enriched biological cycle.
During the come-back trip you will enjoy a pleasant and relaxing afternoon breeze.
There is the flexibility to customize your itinerary to your preference, but it is important to know that the boat trip is subject to favorable weather conditions. If cancelled due to poor weather, you will be given the option of an alternative date or full refunded.
- Viator.com - Best one-stop shopping site for all sorts of activities, walking tours, bus tours, escorted day trips, and other excursions. It is actually a clearinghouse for many local tour companies and outfitters, and since it gets a bulk-rate deal on pricing (and takes only a token fee for itself), you can actually sometimes book an activity through Viator for less than it would cost to buy the same exact tour from the tour company itself. (I once booked a Dublin pub crawl via Viator and later discovered that I saved about $1.50; also, the tour turned out to be sold-out, and they were turning away the folks in front of me in line, but since I had a pre-booked voucher I got in.)Partner
- Contexttravel.com - This bespoke walking tour company doesn't even call its 200 tour leaders "guides." It calls them "docents"—perhaps because most guides are academics and specialists in their fields: history professors, archeologists, PhDs, art historians, artists, etc. Groups are miniscule (often six people maximum), and most docents can be booked for private guiding sessions as well. They aren't always the cheapest tours, but they are invariably the best. People rave about Context.Partner
- Veltra.com - Chief rival to Viator, representing fewer tours but also offering some you won't find on Viator.Partner
- Freewalkingtouritalia.com - Basic walking tours that cost... "name your own price." The guides work for "tips," much of which is turned over to their boss, so you end up "tipping" them €15 to €20 per person anyway, meaning the tours aren't actually free (though, given their incentive, most guides put on a good show and give a good tour) .
- Freetoursbyfoot.com - Basic walking tours of popular Roman neighborhoods that costs... "name your own price." The guides work for "tips," much of which is turned over to their boss, so you end up "tipping" them €15 to €20 per person anyway, meaning the tours aren't actually free (though, given their incentive, most guides put on a good show and give a good tour) .
- Venicefreewalkingtour.com - Basic walking tours of Venice that costs... "name your own price." The guides work for "tips," much of which is turned over to their boss, so you end up "tipping" them €15 to €20 per person anyway, meaning the tours aren't actually free (though, given their incentive, most guides put on a good show and give a good tour) .
- Viator.com - This clearinghouse for activities and day tours also offers longer, multi-day trips—and, since it is essentially a middleman site liking you to local outfitters, it is often among the cheapest (Viator only tacks on a modest fee)Partner
- intrepidtravel.com -
Intrepid Travel is one of only two only major tour outfits I know (along with G Adventures) of that makes a concerted effort to travel like real independent travelers—small groups (max of 8 or 12 people), staying in mom-and-pop accommodations and getting around by public transport rather than a big tour bus.
This fantastic Australian company marries an independent travel style with the expertise of truly knowledgeable guides and a focus on the cultural experience of travel.
Intrepid really does run a different breed of group tour. Let me put it this way: When my parents—who travel widely and on their own and normally would never have even considered taking a group tour—suddenly found themselves with airfare to Japan but no time to plan a trip, I suggested they try booking with Intrepid. They did—and they have raved about it every since. They stayed in touch with their guide via email for years.
Partner - Gadventures.com - Similar to Intrepid, but based in Canada. G Adventures offers a variety of small group tours (usually a max of 8 or 12 people) and adventure trips, including many hiking, trekking, and multi-sport active vacations.Partner
