Rome Christian tours

Religious tours of Rome

Rome is famous as the cradle of Christianity, where Peter founded the official church and where 265 generations of Popes after him have continued to hold court from the theocratic city-state of the Vatican, the heart of the Christian (or, since Martin Luther, Catholic) world. And yes, you can attend a papal audience.

There also more than 900 churches in the Eternal City, plus the catacombs of the Appian Way, attesting to Rome's 2000 years as the epicenter of Christianity.

(Though remember: Rome is also home to one of the oldest Jewish populations in the world outside of Israel or Egypt.)
