Shopping in Milan

From über-high fashion to bargain hunting at stock shops, Milan is a shopper's paradise

Milan is a world capital of high fashion, home to dozens of the top names in haute couture—Armani, Versace, Prada, and Mila Schön, just to name a few.

You can cruise the quadrilatero d'oro, or "golden rectangle" of boutique-lined streets (roughly bounded by Via Montenapoleone, Via della Spiga, Via Borgospesso, and Via Sant'Andrea), hit the middle-class stores of bustling Corso Buenos Aires, or paw through last year's models, slight irregulars, and fashion faux-pas at stock shops on a bargain hunt.

Add in designer household objects, silk from Como, fine wines and foods, and the shops inside the ever-fashionable Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II (a genteel 19th century mall at the center of town), and Milan becomes a shopper's paradise.
