Lipari also has one of Italy's more agreeable hostels (tel. 090-981-2527) tucked in between the churches and museum buildings inside the castle complex. It's an old-school hostel: sex-segregated rooms that sleep 30-plus, with a long midday lockout and midnight curfew.
