Hotel Villa Belvedere

A classy, but not pricey, villa hotel with a sea view and garden pool in Taormina, Sicily

Christian Pécaut’s hotel has remained a favorite for three generations due to its friendly reception, professional maintenance, old-fashioned style, and thoroughly reasonable prices.

The rooms' terra-cotta floors support firm beds and a variety of furnishings, all functional but with a touch of class.

Most rooms have slivers of balconies to enjoy views over the neighboring public gardens to the sea, and top floor rooms have small terraces from which you can glimpse Mt. Etna.

You can save a bit by booking a room on the back—no sea view, but at least they have double-paned windows to block noise from the street above.

The flowering property is terraced down the hillside past the swimming pool shaded by palms—in fact, there's a palm tree actually sprouting quirkily right from the center of the pool.

The hotel also rents out four sleek, modern apartments in a building nearby.
