The Oratorio del Rosario di Santa Cita (or Zita) is one of the most vivacious masterpieces of Giacomo Serpotta, Palermo's master of elaborate stucco work who carried the baroque style to rococo heights (or excesses, depending on your tastes).
The decorations were carried out between 1688 and 1718 and features New Testament stories and a fantastic scene of the Battle of Lepanto on the entrance wall, with detailing so meticulous the ships have wire rigging and the figures photographically exacting expressions.
On the altar is a Madonna del Rosario by Carlo Maratta (1695).
